ABOUT ME
I have had a deep interest in human psychology and behaviour my whole life. I have wanted to make sense of life and help others do the same. I'm fascinated by the human mind and how its biggest strengths (eg. problem-solving, pattern-recognition, attachment) can also be its biggest weaknesses (anxiety, depression, cognitive biases, self-deception, etc). Put simply, evolution (the process that shaped our brains) cares about survival and reproduction first, and our happiness a distant second. But we care about being happy (!) and so there is an inbuilt tension inside all of us. We are in conflict with ourselves. This makes suffering, anxiety, and confusion more or less inevitable for all of us, especially when you throw in the fact that we come into this world as babies with minimal autonomy, awareness, or knowledge.
While formally trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and recently, EMDR, I also have an interest in psychodynamic approaches and working in a deeper, more relational way. See My Approach and my blog posts to learn more the way I work and think.
Areas of Specialty/Interest: OCD, anxiety disorders, relationship issues, ADHD, depression, existential questions.
